Triple Formula One World Champion, Sir Jackie Stewart, lives with the sadness of seeing his wife, Lady Helen Stewart, struggle every day in the face of the unrelenting march of dementia. His mission, which he calls his most important race ever, is to find a cure for dementia during his lifetime.
Sir Jackie’s Melbourne friends are determined to support his quest. His attendance at the Australian Grand Prix was the perfect opportunity. The Race Against Dementia Cocktail Event and Charity Auction took place on March 20th at Lorbek Luxury cars.
Sir Jackie hosted over 500 attendees, including aspiring world Formula One champion, Daniel Ricciardo and former Australian GP ace and sports car World Champion, Mark Webber.
As an event partner, DPR&Co was there in force. Were we the pro-bono agency for the event (with Agency Principal Phil Huzzard on the Event Committee). Plus, almost half our team acted as volunteers on the night – ensuring the smooth running of the event, taking time to welcome guests and rubbing shoulders with the stars.
The success of the event was, by any measure, staggering. Well over $400,000 was raised in a single night.
