Tess recently wrapped up her internship with DPR&Co, where she spent time across different parts of the agency and got a real feel for how things come together behind the scenes. From early ideas through to execution, her experience offered a genuine introduction to agency life. Here’s her reflection on the journey:
“Stepping into DPR&Co for the first time, I didn’t really know what to expect. University teaches you all the theories and frameworks that underpin the industry, however it doesn’t prepare you for the reality of agency life: fast-paced, collaborative, and constantly evolving.
From the beginning, I was exposed to how ideas translate from concept to execution, and how the team delivers results for clients in a way that is both strategic and creative. Opportunities across a range of departments, including Account Services, Business Development, and Digital, provided a broader understanding of the agency. From building campaign proposals and reviewing assets to working hands-on with Meta Ads, it became clear how each element of a campaign connects to drive client outcomes.
A particular highlight was working closely with the Account Services team, which provided valuable insight into how client relationships are managed, how briefs are articulated, and the level of coordination required to ensure projects run smoothly. Being involved in this side of the agency was a key learning curve, not only in understanding how concepts come to life, but also how to manage multiple moving parts simultaneously.
The team at DPR&Co is something truly special. Working alongside such passionate people has fostered an environment where there is genuine care and support for one another. Everyone has been incredibly supportive, open, and willing to share their knowledge and feedback. While there were moments where I felt out of my depth, the team encouraged me to ask questions, contribute ideas, and take ownership of meaningful work.
All in all, my time at DPR&Co has been incredibly rewarding. Prior to this, the thought of entering the industry felt overwhelming: not knowing what to expect, whether what I had learnt at university was relevant, and what my career would look like. As my internship comes to a close, that uncertainty has been replaced with a sense of direction and growth for my future. I am leaving DPR&Co with a stronger skill set, greater confidence, and a genuine excitement for what comes next.”
